Indications/Uses
Local symptomatic relief of pain & inflammation in trauma of the tendons, ligaments, muscles & joints eg, due to sprains, strains & bruises; localized forms of soft tissue rheumatism.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥14 yr Spray into affected site tid-qid w/ at least 4 hr interval. Wash hands after application unless the hands are the site being treated. Elderly Usual adult dose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac, ASA or other NSAIDs. Patients w/ or w/o chronic asthma in whom attacks of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by aspirin or other NSAIDs. Concomitant use of oral NSAIDs & other products containing diclofenac. Adolescents & childn <14 yr.
Special Precautions
Apply only to intact, non-diseased skin & not to skin wounds or open injuries. Not to be used w/ occlusion. Do not allow to come into contact w/ eyes or mucous membranes. Not to be taken by mouth. Possibility of GI bleeding in patients w/ history of, or active peptic ulceration. May precipitate bronchospasm in patients suffering from or w/ previous history of asthma or allergic disease. Discontinue if rash develops.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic or non-allergic contact dermatitis. Hypersensitivity eg, non-specific allergic reaction & anaphylaxis, resp tract reactivity (eg, asthma, aggravated asthma, bronchospasm or dyspnea), assorted skin disorders (eg, rashes of various types, pruritus, urticaria, purpura, angioedema), photosensitivity; abdominal pain, dyspepsia.
Drug Interactions
Increased incidence of adverse reactions w/ aspirin or other NSAIDs.
